Mastering The Art Of Personal Growth

This post will include tips for working professionals, college students, and even school students. Each tip will have stages. Depending on your personal stage, choose what will benefit you the most and incorporate it into your day.

The moment to change comes when you are in the toughest part of your life.

When things seem to have stopped working or you feel stuck, when your life becomes mundane and too boring, when you feel *you* need to make a change—that is the exact time for you to take action on yourself and shift the paradigm of your life.

I am so proud of you now that you are here to make a change in your life. I am sure you will become the version of yourself that you so strongly desire or have even started to envision.

This blog post is divided into two parts:
Part I: Inner Upgrade (Energetically)
Part II: Outer Upgrade (Environmental/Social upgrade).

Part I: Energetic Upgrade

There is no specific method as to which step you need to take first, but there is one condition: you have to start with only one per week. Otherwise, you will just get overwhelmed and get nothing done.

And we don’t want to keep revisiting square one. So, calm the impatience and stick to one.

Social Media Detox

Step away from your screen for just one day. It can be any day, preferably when you are alone. You might get bored at first, but the magic is in the boredom.

Your mind will try to trick you into scrolling, but seeking artificial dopamine is not going to benefit you. Instead, go out and sit in the sun, walk, interact with your family, or, my personal favorite, curl up with your favorite or TBR book and finish it.

Live your life, not somebody else’s.

Release Limiting Beliefs

Basically, upgrade your mindset. Your mind is your biggest asset. It is something no one can take away from you.

And your mind has the ability to make your future the way you want it. Let go of all the mental and emotional baggage. It certainly won’t happen overnight, but with time, it will.

Journal

do shadow work. Sit with your feelings and understand why you feel the things you do. Understand that it is okay to feel things; you are human. You will make mistakes; you are human. Be human.

You can also turn to professional guidance if you feel the need to.

Meditation

Now, I am no expert in spirituality, but I know enough to tell you that sitting with yourself and just being in your own presence—focusing between your eyes, the Ajna chakra, feeling the life force flowing through your body, becoming aware of your breath, and realizing that you are nothing in front of the entire creation of the universe—helps.

It will help you concentrate better, keep you happier, improve your mental health, and ground you.

And if you combine this with a heart-racing exercise before meditating, you are killing two birds with one stone.

Not only does physical exercise help you meditate better, but it also removes toxins from your body, improves your brain health, brings you into better shape, balances metabolism… do I need to say more?

Just move your body and quiet your mind.

Visualize

The power of believing you are already living the life you want to live is real.

For some time during your day, live in the future.
Live truly and limitlessly.

What would you do if money were not a problem, if your health were not a hindrance, if any limiting circumstances did not exist? Imagine your life down to every detail and feel it. Feel the air around you, listen to the sounds, see the environment, and most importantly, do it all with a smile.

And once you visualize, know that the intention is set. Don’t worry about how or when. Focus on your work, habits, and learning.

Part II: Social / Environmental Upgrade

This part includes detoxing your environment, including people and things.

Physical Decluttering

Imagine the space where your future self would thrive. Now, look around you. See the difference? That is where the work has to be done.

You have to create a space where you would thrive. A clean desk, organized clothes, polished shoes, and ironed outfits. Healthy food options in your fridge and on your counter, meals or ingredients prepped, and a pretty water bottle.

Identify the areas you have to work on, and divide or spread them over a period of hours, days, or weeks depending on the amount of work to be done and your other responsibilities. And do one thing right now.

You can start with prepping food or eating food if you haven’t, while listening to one of the self-development podcasts or YouTubers. Although I do not recommend consuming any form of media during your meals, if it gets you started, why not?

Self Care

The most natural form of self-love.

You have to take care of yourself because this is the self that will help you live life to the fullest. You cannot treat your body as secondary and expect to have the best experiences because.

At some point, your body will start lagging in the form of sickness, severe health issues, lack of energy, lack of creativity, hyper thoughts, anxiety, and everything else that your body will react to in order to make you realize that IT NEEDS CARE!

So, sleep early, wake up early, get a morning routine, and actively start taking care of your body.

Social Life & Relationships

When it comes to having better people around you and building a circle that pushes you up and continues to grow as you grow, then you can win at anything you set your mind to.

Remove yourself from environments that push you down or don’t encourage your growth. Put yourself in environments that make you uncomfortable and force you to grow.

I believe social life is a skill. Conversing with people, making new connections, nurturing the relationships you already have, and repeating that all over again is a skill.

And I don’t mean you have to form connections just to grow; you must have genuine interest in the people you are connecting with. Pretending with people will exhaust you, and we are not here for that.

Genuine relationships will give you energy.

Hobbies

Now, you might have seen the trend of having four hobbies: one that makes you money, one to keep you in shape, one to keep you creative, and one to keep you intelligent.

It is absolutely true.

Identify what you love to spend your time on.

What is the physical activity you love that you can practice three or four times a week?

What do you like to learn about? Research it more. Can you make it a source of income, or maybe just a source of general knowledge and brain stimulation?

Where does your creative energy spike? Is it with paints or with a pen? Is it in nature or in your safe space? With people or when alone?

Identify your likes and take care of them.

The Action Quick List

The Disciplined You

This step is something I have created on my own, by combining different forms of motivation and incorporating small actions so that not a day goes by without moving forward towards my goals.

This includes listing all of your goals, creating a Pinterest board with images that match your goals and inspires you, and breaking down bigger goals into small, manageable daily actions.

What these actions may include:

  • Learning new skills through reading, visuals, or audio lectures
  • Listening to podcasts while you drive
  • Listening to audiobooks while you clean
  • Reading articles instead of scrolling
  • Finding easier ways to complete necessary tasks
  • Batching your work for better focus
  • Developing the habit of researching all your questions and doubts, no matter how small
  • Choosing a healthier diet
  • Drinking more water
  • Eating fruits with dressings like herbs/spices
  • Folding your clothes immediately after drying them
  • Oiling your hair twice a week
  • Taking care of your body at least once a week to begin with
  • Keeping your study/work space clean at all times
These micro-habits are going to make living your life easier and happier.

Don’t be fooled; they take time to become habits.

But that’s where the fun lies—in creating your own life. You get to decide what you want to do repeatedly and what you want to avoid.

You choose what to wear, how to think and speak, what you wish to learn, where you want to live, and the people you want to spend time with. The beauty of it all lies in the journey.

Once you start taking action, it becomes addictive.
